Community & Education

The Shakespeare Company is pleased to introduce its inaugural Study Day, (Saturday 21st September, 2:00 to 5:00 pm, at Inside Out Theatre in the Eau Claire Market) tied to our production of The Tempest (19th September to 5th October, in Vertigo’s Studio Theatre), at the tantalizing price of only $15.

Study Days are modelled on those offered by Shakespeare’s Globe and National Theatre London. The focus is on textual interpretation. Aided by a professor and actors from the production, participants will consider how our appreciation may be enriched by academic and professional insight into Shakespeare and his work.

Study Days are intended for adult learners, as a form of life-long learning, but we will very happily welcome youth who are interested.

This program gives our theatre company the opportunity to share our passion for Shakespeare’s work and challenge, inspire, and intrigue young minds in Alberta.

Calgary’s only classical theatre company brings Shakespeare to life for students and educators throughout Calgary and surrounding area. Since 2011 we have shared high energy, 45 minute adaptations of the Bard’s plays. These condensed plays are typically performed by 3 – 4 emerging professional actors. Our performances have been seen by over 20,000 of Alberta`s youth in all the education sectors.
